Late blow fells Giants
Belfast Giants net-minder Mark Cavallin was finally beaten by a Steelers goal
Mark Cavallin made a string of excellent saves

Sheffield Steelers 1-0 Belfast Giants

Belfast Giants net-minder Mark Cavallin was in outstanding form but was eventually beat just two minutes before the end of normal time at Sheffield Arena.

Rick Brebant's late game-winning goal gave Superleague leaders Sheffield Steelers a 1-0 home triumph just as Saturday's game appeared to be heading for overtime.

Cavallin produced a stunning performance, making 41 saves including a number of top-drawer ones in a second period dominated by the hosts.

Opposite number Joel Laing made 25 saves as he posted his second-successive shut-out as Steelers moved seven points clear of their nearest rivals.
