Moodie a doubt for UGP
Scottish rider Jim Moodie
Jim Moodie is hopeful of recovering in time
Scottish motorbike star Jim Moodie might not be able to ride in this month's Ulster Grand Prix due to injury.

The Glaswegian was due to return to the Dundrod event on 17 August for the first time in 12 years.

But he has a dislocated left shoulder and bruised his face after crashing his quad machine during practice on Sunday.

Moodie was thrown off and the quad rolled on top of him but he is not giving up hope of being able to race his Padgett's Suzuki at Dundrod.

"The accident happened near the end of my training on Sunday, about five minutes before I was about to finish," Moodie told the BBC.

"My face is cut and bruised but the main problem is with my shoulder.

I want to be able to do the job to the absolute best of my ability or else not at all
Jim Moodie

"I cancelled tests on my bike which were planned for Tuesday and Thursday of this week and have rescheduled them for Oulton Park in England on Friday.

"It is best to plan with a view to things being alright rather than wait and then have to rush to get ready.

"I'll give my arm a little work-out on Thursday and if it is not better then the bike tests will have to wait until Kirkistown next Tuesday or Wednesday.

"I want to be able to give the Ulster Grand Prix 100 per cent.

"I want to be able to do the job to the absolute best of my ability or else not at all.

"But I am hopeful my arm will be fine and I will be able to race.

Moodie will be taking part in the Superbikes and the 600cc, which he won at this year's North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.

He will be up against tough competition, with David Jefferies, Adrian Archibald, Ian Lougher and Richard Britton all in good shape.
