BBC Sport Online picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.
Devil of a job
Dinamo Zagreb have called in a holy-man to exorcise their demons, ahead of the Uefa Cup first round clash with Fulham.
The Croatian club want to bring in a club priest and are also banking on help from Zagreb's deadly rivals Hadjuk Split, who were conquered by Fulham in the last round.
Coach Miroslav Blazevic said: "This club is full of demons and they must be chased away."
Looks like Fulham will be taking on a team lacking in spirit, then.
Benchmark for fan
A German football fan paid 1,500 to sit next to his idols on the team bench, only to be told there was no room.
Sorry, son - there's no room

Manfred Adelmann thought he had secured a place on the Eintracht Frankfurt bench for the match against Union Berlin after outbidding hundreds of other fans at auction.
But his dream was shattered when the German Football League said it was against regulations.
Officials insisted only 15 people were allowed on a team's bench, including all substitutes and technical and medical staff.
Luckily, bosses at Union Berlin have stepped in to give Manfred full access to their VIP sections instead.
On the condition he doesn't sit down anywhere presumably.
