Run for the money A runner who is claiming prize money for a top-three finish has been accused of running only half the race. Kent Hollingsworth crossed the line in third place at the Detroit Marathon, but other runners insist he "appeared from nowhere". Mike Dudley, who eventually finished fourth, told the Detroit Free Press he was in a group of six people at the front at the half-way stage - at least two of whom were struggling. He said: "I'm thinking I'll finish third when suddenly this guy that we've never seen before is ahead of us." Race director Patricia Ball, added: "This is something that can be very difficult to prove or disprove." You get the feeling this could run and run... 100m champ...eventually A 99-year-old sprinter was the star of the show at the World Masters Games in Australia. Charles Booth romped to the 100m title in a time of 24 seconds.
He knew he had it sewn up from the start - as there were no other competitors in the 90-99 category. Charles now has his sights set on Tim Montgomery's recent 100m world record of 9.78 seconds - provided he can get his hands on a supersonic zimmer. Anelka goes missing again Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka has been failing to hit the target both on and off the pitch. The French forward, who has gone off the boil in recent Premiership games, hired a chauffeur after he kept getting lost in Manchester city centre. Sadly his luck didn't change as the hired hand managed to lose his bearings between Anelka's hotel and the nearby training ground and was forced to enlist the help of passers-by.
