| Monday, 17 February, 2003, 13:09 GMT Smith demands more support ![]() Denis Smith wants to see more supporters Wrexham manager Denis Smith has appealed for more fans to turn up and back his side's promotion push. Less than 3,000 home supporters saw the Dragons beat Southend on Saturday to climb into the play-off zone. Smith said: "I know this is as frustrating for the regular fans that do turn up and give us great support, as it is for the players and management.
"We have now won five of our last six games, so it was a bit disappointing not to have more people inside the ground to witness another good performance. "That's not having a go at the ones who were here. They have turned up and were brilliant. I would just like a few more of them. "Our financial position is no secret," Smith told the club's official website. "We need fans coming through the turnstiles to plough money back into the club coffers to help make sure we have the playing staff we need to take us where we all want to go." However, Smith has been able to sign midfielder Scott Green from Wigan Athletic. The 33-year-old former Bolton Wanderers player has moved to the Racecourse Ground until the end of the season after being released by Wigan. He made his Wrexham debut as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Southend. |
