The Baggies have agreed an undisclosed fee with the Greek club and also have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer. Udeze has agreed terms with the club and passed a medical. Albion are confident he will obtain a work permit. The 22-year-old has won 18 caps for his country and played against England in the goalless draw during last summer's World Cup finals. He spent a trial period with Albion before Christmas. Megson turned his attention to Udeze after being snubbed by USA international Tony Sanneh. Sanneh turned down the chance to join the Baggies from Bundesliga outfit Nurnberg after failing to agree personal terms.
The clubs agreed terms for a loan deal but the 31-year-old American defender, who had an outstanding World Cup, was unhappy with West Brom's offer. "I spoke to Albion and I told them what I wanted, but when it came to the offer in writing, it was less than we had discussed, so I rejected it," Sanneh said. "There have been a few teams looking at me, but West Brom are the only team to make a firm offer. "I want to go to England, but I am not going to accept that sort of deal. "I am an established international and I am more than capable of playing in the Premiership. "I am playing in the Bundesliga and challenging for a Uefa Cup spot, so I am very happy at Nurnberg and do not need to leave," he told the Birmingham Post's website. |
