| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 00:53 GMT Fenwick suffers Pierre blow ![]() Fenwick managed in Trinidad and Tobago Northampton's application for a work permit for Trinidad & Tobago striker Nigel Pierre has been turned down. A player from outside the EEC must have appeared in 75% of his country's matches over the past two years. But Pierre, who plays in the Caribbean for Joe Public, has featured in 71% of the games, scoring 21 times in 39 appearances. Fenwick knew of Pierre through working in Trinidad. Prior to joining Northampton, Fenwick coached in the Caribbean island and led CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh to the country's 2002 Professional League title. Meanwhile the Northampton manager has yet to make a decision on whether to pursue his interest in former Real Madrid striker Jose Luis Morales, who has been on trial at the Cobblers. |
