The 29-year-old will remain at Almondvale for another season with a view to an extension dependent on his number of first-team appearances. Makel said: "I'm the kind of player who needs games to keep my fitness up and that wasn't happening at Bradford, so I wasn't at my best when I came to Livingston. "But I played in the last eight games of the season and I was feeling really strong. The season just ended too quickly for me. "The contract might only be for one year, but I'm confident I can earn a review of those terms later in the season," added Makel. "I'm really happy at Livingston. I bought a flat in Edinburgh after I signed at Christmas and my girlfriend is from Edinburgh, so I'm delighted to be able to stay here. "There has been interest from two other club's, but I'm determined to prove myself at Almondvale." Sunderland-born Makel started his career at Newcastle United before moving on to Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town. He joined Hearts from Huddersfield in 1998 but this season signed monthly contracts at Bradford City before ending the season with nine starts for Livingston. | See also: 20 May 02 | Scotland 14 May 02 | Scotland 10 May 02 | Livingston Top Livingston stories now: Links to more Livingston stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
