Hasselbaink could be on his way to the Nou Camp

Chelsea could finally sell striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to Barcelona in a �7.5m deal.

Hasselbaink has long been a target of Nou Camp bosses and had looked set to join the club in the summer before talks petered out.

But Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has now hinted he is ready to off-load the Dutch international to the Spanish giants.

"Whether Jimmy goes or stays depends on how much money Barcelona put on the table," said Ranieri.

"I have talked to the (Chelsea) board about this eventuality on a technical basis, but I haven't spoken about economic matters."

Barcelona are reported to have offered �5m to sign Hasslebaink.

But Stamford Bridge's money men are believed to want �7.5m for the player, who scored 33 goals last season and has already found the target 11 times in the current campaign.

Barcelona coach Luis van Gaal has long been an admirer of Hasselbaink's since his time in charge of the Dutch national side.

And van Gaal is said to be keen to pair off Hasselbaink with fellow countryman Patrick Kluivert.

Ranieri, however, insisted any deal was still a long way off.

He added: "So far it is all talk, talk, talk. If they want him, they can come and give me the money."
