The Dutch striker has been repeatedly linked with a move to Spanish club Barcelona this season. But Chelsea have enjoyed a solid campaign and Hasselbaink is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge. "I'd like to finish my career at Chelsea if it's possible," said Hasselbaink. "It's still really far away, but I feel at home here. You can always look for something better, but is there something better? I don't know. "I'm settled at Chelsea and it's not a must that I have to look for a bigger or better club. "Chelsea is close to my heart and I'm happy here," Hasselbaink told the London Evening Standard newspaper. Chelsea are poised to qualify for the Champions League, but Hasselbaink may have left the club this season had Barcelona not sacked boss Louis van Gaal. Ranieri hinted before Christmas that Chelsea would consider selling the striker if the Spanish club made a suitable offer. Hasselbaink struggled at the start of the current season after interest from Barcelona last summer unsettled the striker. And the form of Eidur Gudjohnsen and Gianfranco Zola has left Hasselbaink facing stiff competition for a first-team place.
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Jesper Gronkjaer has admitted he has learned to accept manager Claudio Ranieri's rotation system. The 25-year-old winger spent much of the early part of the season warming the bench, but has found himself back in favour in recent weeks. "When I signed the contract I knew they had a rotation system, and if I felt bad about it I shouldn't have chosen Chelsea," said the Dane. "I suppose I did it to test myself. "It's quite hard to name regulars at Chelsea. There are a few who play each time, while there is a bigger group of players who are in and out of the team. "Lately I've been playing a lot, but that could easily change. It's working for me at the moment though." |
