Barca end Hasselbaink interest
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in action for Chelsea
Hasselbaink looks likely to stay at Stamford Bridge
Barcelona have confirmed that they will not pursue their interest in Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The club issued a statement on their official website confirming that the former Leeds and Athletico Madrid striker will not be coming to the Nou Camp.

"In agreement with the wishes of the coaching staff, we have been analysing the possibility of one last player," said the statement.

FC Barcelona has decided against the signing and considers the squad ready to face this season's competition with guarantees
Official Barcelona statement

"We have spoken to clubs with whom we have a good relationship, such as Chelsea, to study the possibility of incorporating a centre-forward.

"These talks have not reached a positive conclusion due to the considerable differences between the two parties.

"FC Barcelona has decided against the signing and considers the squad ready to face this season's competition with guarantees."

Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri had insisted on Monday that the Dutch striker would not be leaving the club.

Speaking to Radio Barcelona, Ranieri said that the 30-year old - also targeted by Deportivo La Coruna - will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

"There have been lots of rumours but that's all it is. Hasselbaink is staying at Chelsea," he said.
