Chelsea face Gudjohnsen exit

Eidur Gudjohnsen may be forced to leave cash-strapped Chelsea, his agent has told BBC Sport Online.

The Iceland international is looking for an improved pay deal at Stamford Bridge, but Peter Harrison said he could be lured away to another of the Premiership high-flyers.

"Eidur is very happy at Chelsea, but we are looking for an increase in salary to give him parity with other leading players," said Harrison, who is in talks with Chelsea officials on Tuesday.

"He has not asked to leave the club and to be persuaded to leave a top-five team like Chelsea, it would have to be the right club."

Gudjohnsen, 23, is chasing a lucrative two-year extension to his current contract, but the timing is not good as Harrison admitted that Chelsea are trying to cut back on salaries.

"Maybe they will have to sell him and 15m sounds like the right sort of figure," he said.

"He would be interested if teams like Manchester United came in for him, but I've not yet had any contact with United."

Blackburn Rovers are reportedly keeping tabs on Gudjohnsen - but appear to be closing in on Dwight Yorke.
