Boston United boss Steve Evans insists it is business as usual at York Street as he prepares his side for a first ever crack at Nationwide League football.

The Nationwide Conference champions and Evans himself face several charges from the FA relating to alleged contract irregularities.

Evans and club owner Pat Malkinson are also alleged to have paid a player �8,000 in an attempt to mislead or impede the FA enquiry.

The Boston manager has been instructed not to discuss the allegations.

"The problem I've got is that legally I've been instructed to make no comment and that will certainly be the stance I'll be taking until we meet with the FA later in July at the hearing," he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"I would love to be more open and honest with the fans and I would love to be giving them some feelings and views which I've got which are quite strong, but at the end of the day I've got to live with this until my legal team meet the FA.

"It's been very difficult, the media are only portraying one side of it at present and that's the side they're focusing on."

However, Evans has already brought his squad back in for pre-season training as he presses ahead with plans for the new campaign.

Boston's squad includes new signings Matt Hocking and Ben Chapman and Evans believes the pending FA hearing won't prevent him from bringing in more new faces.

"The lads were in on Monday. They worked very hard and their focus is on doing well in the Nationwide League Third Division," Evans said.

"The current situation was running when we signed Ben Chapman from Grimsby and we've been in discussions with three or four players over the past two or three weeks and we've kept them in touch as much as we could do.

"The bottom line is we hope to have one or two more signings in the door this week and I think people see it as business as usual."

Evans also revealed he had received widespread backing since the FA concluded their investigation.

"I have had fantastic support from senior people at this football club, fantastic support from Boston United Supporters Association and every other supporter that has been around and from some people in football who have been in touch," he said.
