| Friday, 24 May, 2002, 09:59 GMT 10:59 UK FA probes Boston ![]() Boston were promoted on goal difference The Football Association is investigating what it calls "suspected irregularities" - believed to be players' contracts - at newly-promoted Boston. FA officials have visited the club's York Street offices and the club are cooperating with the investigation. But Boston's general manager John Blackwell has denied national newspaper reports that the offices and the homes of several players were raided in a "military style operation". He also denied that there were any irregularities in the contracts. "The contracts are valid - there's no problem," he said. "We had a positive meeting with the FA and they were happy with what we had to say - in the past two seasons 18 clubs have had a visit. "They came to us very politely, knocked on the door and had a cup of tea." If any irregularities are uncovered - and depending on their scale - the club's promotion to the Football League could be in doubt. |
