| | Saturday, 10 August, 2002, 15:57 GMT 16:57 UK Killie continue United run  Kilmarnock have a great record against United Dundee United 1-2 Kilmarnock Kilmarnock extended their run of unbeaten results against Dundee United to 18 games with a deserved 2-1 win at Tannadice. The Ayrshire side dominated the game for long spells but had to batle back after conceding a goal to Steven Thompson. Both the Killie strikes came from substitutes with Craig Dargo and Kris Boyd getting on the score sheet to press claims for a starting place. United began sluggishly but contributed to a lively second half, during which there were several chances at both ends. The Tayside outfit made one change to the side who drew 0-0 with Partick Thistle on the opening day, replacing Tassos Venetis with Derek Lilley. Killie boss Jim Jefferies made two changes following the 1-1 draw with Rangers, including new signing Gary Locke at the expense of Ally Mitchell and also rewarding last week's goalscoring hero Andy McLaren with a start in place of Dargo. The visitors were first to threaten and when McLaren released Greg Shields in the 6th minute United keeper Paul Gallacher had to push away a fierce shot from the full back. Kilmarnock continued to press forward and came agonisingly close to taking the lead from an overhead kick by McLaren, which spun narrowly wide following a corner.
United midfielder Charlie Miller burst into life with 10 minutes remaining of the first half when he skilfully evaded a nasty Alan Mahood challenge before being felled on the edge of the box by Frederic Dindeleux. From the free-kick, Danny Griffin had the home supporters on their feet but his shot flashed inches wide. Kilmarnock were again playing the better football inthe second half but were caught out in the 71st minute when a long clearance from Gallacher was gathered by Thompson and the young Scotland striker finished well with Gordon Marshall advancing. The scores were level seven minutes later when substitute Dargo nipped stole in front of the united defence to divert a McLaren free kick into the net. The comeback was complete when fellow replacement Boyd lashed home a spectacular strike in the 82nd minute.
