Aberdeen strike late to beat Hibs
Aberdeen players celebrate
Aberdeen can scarcely believe they have won
Hibernian 1-2 Aberdeen

A goal in the seventh minute of injury time by Chris Clark gave Aberdeen an incredible win over Hibs.

The Easter Road side had gone ahead after half-an-hour, Paco Luna scoring.

But Darren Mackie pulled the Dons level just after the hour-mark.

Clark scored his late, late goal after an amazing 10 minutes were added on as a result of injury stoppages.

Garry O'Connor produced an exciting 40-yard run in the second minute, but his shot was blocked and cleared by Phil McGuire.

Dons keeper Peter Kjaer had to be alert in the sixth minute when Paco Luna headed O'Connor's cross straight at him.

Ben Thornley cut in from the left in the 21st minute before unleashing a 20-yard shot that just flew over the bar.

Hibs midfielder John O'Neil then tried to test Kjaer with a delicate lob which floated onto the roof of the Dane's net.

The home side took the lead in the 31st minute when O'Neil threaded a pass through to Paco Luna, who took his time before clipping the ball into the net off Kjaer.

Hibs continued to look the better side and O'Connor drilled a low shot from 30 yards wide in the 39th minute.

Aberdeen were thwarted moments into the second half by a linesman's flag after Derek Young's swinging cross had set up Mackie, much to the outrage of the 3,000-strong travelling support.

Hibs had an incredible escape in the 49th minute when Derek Young played in Bisconti, who somehow slid the ball wide with only keeper Caig to beat.

O'Connor forced Kjaer into a save in the 58th minute with a low shot from the edge of the box.

But Aberdeen grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 63rd minute.

Derek Young chased a long ball and harried the Hibs defence who failed to clear.

The ball broke to Kevin McNaughton who slipped it to Mackie to score from close range.

McNaughton was carried off on a stretcher after a clash of heads in the 73rd minute and the game was held up for several minutes as the youngster appeared to be unconscious.

Kjaer saved Aberdeen with a world-class save from McManus in injury time when he somehow sent the youngster's curling effort wide.

Then there was high drama further into injury time when Aberdeen snatched their dramatic winner.

Fergus Tiernan and Darren Young combined to set up Chris Clark to tap home from close range and give the visitors all three points.
