Jones: We deserved win
Wolves players congratulate Kevin Proudlock for their side's third goal against Rochdale
Wolves finished the Rochdale tie with a flourish
Wolves manager Dave Jones was relieved and frustrated after his side clinched a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in five years.

Jones was disappointed at the way his side lost their composure after dominating the opening 45 minutes.

But he admitted his delight after reaching the last eight of the FA Cup.

"For the first 45 minutes Rochdale must have thought there were 22 of us on the pitch but we could not kill them off," he said.

I thought 3-1 flattered them a bit and in the second half we played with a lot of pride

Rochdale boss Paul Simpson

"We said at half-time `Go and take their hopes away' but we didn't do it and got caught out and they got themselves back in the game.

"It was disappointing that we lost our composure and shape for 15-20 minutes when it was 1-1 and our discipline also went.

"But I don't think anyone can complain about the final result and if we had got a second goal in the first half then I think it would have been goodnight for them a lot quicker.

"But we are into the quarter-finals and I always felt if we got that composure back then we would be okay."

Rochdale boss Paul Simpson - a former Wolves player - paid tribute to the efforts of his side who had previously knocked out First Division opposition in Preston and Coventry.

"In the first half we did not do ourselves justice but in the second half it was a different story," he said.

"When we got back to 1-1 I thought we were in a strong position.

"The second goal knocked the stuffing out of us but we've got to go away proud of what we have done today.

"I thought 3-1 flattered them a bit and in the second half we played with a lot of pride.

"Now we have to do the same when we get back to the real business of the Third Division."
