| Sunday, 16 February, 2003, 11:29 GMT Warnock relishing Cup draw ![]() Mooney (second left) scored his first goal this season Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is relishing Monday's FA Cup draw after watching his team defeat Walsall 2-0 on Saturday. The Blades took the lead through Tommy Mooney shortly before half-time and Peter Ndlovu scored the second goal after 56 minutes. The scoreline ended Walsall's hopes of reaching the sixth round of the FA Cup for the first time in their 115-year-old history.
"The FA Cup is all about being in the hat on Monday and then hopefully getting a home draw," said Warnock. "I thought the attitude from my players was great, but then it has been like that all season. "I have a great bunch of lads who are putting everything in. I think you can say they play with a smile on their faces." Mooney's goal was the first all season for the striker who has joined Blades on loan from Birmingham. The striker scored 15 goals in 32 games last season for Blues, but has not figured at all for Steve Bruce's team following their promotion to the Premiership. "I particularly liked Tommy's goal," added Warnock. "We don't get enough predator goals at this club and that for me was a predator's goal. "But Walsall played the game. They came at us and for the first 25 minutes it was a toss of a coin as to who would score first. "So I was delighted when the first goal went in because, after that, I could only see one winner. "I thought we were then quite professional in the second half." Walsall boss Colin Lee was sent from the dug-out midway through the second half for what referee Mark Clatterburg described as persistent infringement in the technical area. And the Saddlers refused to comment after the match, while also instructing his players not to speak to the media. |
