| Tuesday, 17 September, 2002, 21:56 GMT 22:56 UK Scunthorpe 3-1 Carlisle Scunthorpe wrapped up only their second win of the season in comfortable fashion, triumphing at home to struggling Carlisle. The Cumbrians endured a torrid opening as Scunthorpe's Steve Torpey, Scott Brough and Martin Carruthers were just off target in the opening six minutes. Richie Foran then went close for Carlisle before Torpey (13) scored from close range. Foran headed a Carlisle equaliser in the 24th minute, their first goal in six games, following a corner by newcomer David Freeman. Scunthorpe continued to dominate with Andy Dawson and Brough hitting the woodwork before Carruthers restored their lead in the 73rd minute. Two minutes later, Torpey secured the points when he turned brilliantly in the area to leave his marker stranded before hammering the ball past Danny Naisbitt.
