Exeter and Torquay played out a goalless draw in a vicious wind at St James Park in a match that lacked the passion of a local derby.

Torquay squandered a great chance in the 23rd minute when David Graham's cross found the unmarked Marcus Richardson, but he skied his shot over the bar.

Exeter had their chances but their finishing was poor.

Kevin Dearden had to make good saves to deny Neil Whitworth and Martin Barlow, while Paul Buckle hit the upright eight minutes from time.

In the last minute both Graham and Exeter's Kwame Ampadu were sent off after a flare-up.
