Shrewsbury kept alive their play-off hopes with a win against Carlisle but made hard work of it.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Peter Murphy was red-carded after 21 minutes.

Carlisle keeper Peter Keen made a string of brilliant saves before he was finally beaten by Ryan Lowe's 38th-minute shot from the edge of the penalty box.

The Cumbrians battled bravely and Shrewsbury were denied further goals when shots from Lowe and Ian Woan came back off the woodwork.
