Sheffield United struck three times in an inspired spell to turn up the heat on a Wolves side who have now lost five of their last six league games.

Midfielder Michael Tonge grabbed a brace and in-form striker Wayne Allison scored his fourth in four games.

Wolves had been fortunate to lead through a Rob Ullathorne own goal, but there was no way back after United's purple patch.

Alex Rae orchestrated the 35th-minute opening goal slipping a pass through to George Ndah, whose cut-back was turned past goalkeeper Paddy Kenny by Ullathorne.

But the battling Blades equalised with a Tonge strike deep into first-half added time.

Within three minutes of the restart the visitors were ahead when Ullathorne sent over a pinpoint cross for Allison to fire in a bullet header.

Wolves barely had time to catch their breath before it was 3-1, with Tonge striking a superb 15-yard shot past Murray in the home goal after 50 minutes.

There were few chances in the first half, but United were the better side and posed plenty of problems.

Goalkeeper Kenny was twice called on to make saves, keeping out a shot from Marc Edworthy and tipping over Ndah's header, but Wolves were making heavy weather of it.

Wolves replaced Ndah with Kevin Cooper just after the hour mark and he was soon in the thick of things, sending over a dangerous cross that brought a great defensive header from Ullathorne, and firing a shot just wide.

The home side then threw on Dean Sturridge in the hope of sparking a comeback, but United looked just as likely to score.

Tonge went close to his hat-trick when a 20-yarder flew just over the top.
