Leicester City survived with 10 men for 23 minutes to claim a valuable win over promotion rivals Wolves in a card-littered match.

The game saw seven bookings, two of which ended Muzzy Izzet's match midway through the second half.

Paul Dickov had earlier struck the only goal from the penalty spot to maintain City's perfect home record after six matches at their new ground.

The win also kept the Foxes in touch with Division One leaders Portsmouth.

Leicester were awarded their spotkick when Lee Naylor dived in with a clumsy tackle on midfielder Dickov.

The Scotland international picked himself up to calmly stroke the ball past goalkeeper Matt Murray.

The visitors settled quickly despite the early goal, with Shaun Newton creating their first chance with an opportunistic strike.

And two minutes later, the visitors were almost level.

Nathan Blake's powerful shot from the edge of the box was turned away in unorthodox style by the legs of Walker.

Blake looked impressive up front, curling another effort over the crossbar.

Newton was then denied by Walker, who did well to save the close-range shot.

Izzet was shown the first yellow card of the game after catching Denis Irwin with a late challenge.

And the Turkey international was sent off after being booked again for hacking down Alex Rae.

Wolves desperately threw men forward in search of an equaliser.

And Naylor saw a long-range shot blocked by a crowd of players before Walker reacted well to claim a dangerous cross from Joleon Lescott.
