Glen Little grabbed his first goal of the season to give Burnley a deserved victory over Wimbledon at Turf Moor.

Little's goal, six minutes after the interval, helped extend the Clarets unbeaten run to six games while condemning Wimbledon to a fourth away defeat of the campaign.

The winning margin would have been greater but for the heroics of Kelvin Davis, who produced a string of fine saves in the Wimbledon goal.

The game was just three minutes old when Little tested Davis with a close-range header - and Burnley emphasised their early superiority through long-range efforts from Dean West and Gareth Taylor.

Wimbledon responded through Alex Tapp and then Neil Shipperley, who drove at Marlon Beresford in the Burnley goal from the edge of the penalty area.

But Davis was easily the busiest keeper as the Clarets created chance after chance.

And Little made no mistake just after the restart when meeting Lee Briscoe's cross with a powerful drive which flew into the top right-hand corner of the net.

A trio of hopeful efforts from Joel McAnuff were the closest Wimbledon came to levelling matters while Burnley substitute Ian Moore almost doubled his team's advantage with a thunderous shot.
