Law's players have not been paid for 16 weeks because of the club's financial problems. Indeed, Bradford did not even know their Nationwide League status had been preserved until Friday night.
Law said: "I think that performance epitomises the players I've got. "People maybe questioned their attitude and their commitment last season, but I think the way they've conducted themselves over the last three or four months has been nothing short of exemplary. "The fact that they still haven't been paid and they've gone out and put in a performance like that is a credit to them, and I can't praise them highly enough. "They're a great set of lads to work with and I think we might have surprised a few people today. "There aren't many people who would continue to go to work when they haven't been paid for 16 weeks." Law admitted the performance of veteran keeper Gary Walsh had been key. "I thought Gary made a great save in the first half and two excellent saves in the second," he said. "When George Ndah got through and showed his pace at the end, Gary just got a leg to it. "But I thought we had chances as well. We had a lot of the play and I didn't think there was a great deal to choose between the two teams." Wolves boss Dave Jones, who left new signing Paul Ince on the sidelines, felt he should have been leaving West Yorkshire with all three points.
"I thought we defended well and probably should have won it. There were a lot of nerves in the dressing room before the game. "That's out of the way now and we can settle down and play football." Law will sit down with full-back Gus Uhlenbeek after Tuesday night's trip to Crystal Palace to discuss a permanent deal for him. Uhlenbeek has been handed a temporary contract to cover the first two games of the season. Jones will include Ince, who has not tasted competitive action since May, in his squad for the home clash with Walsall the following evening. |
