Lubumbashi gets Caf ban
TP Mazembe were DR Congo's team in last year's African Champions League
TP Mazembe play their home games in Lubumbashi
Caf have banned DR Congo clubs from using the Kenya stadium in Lubumbashi.

The poor condition of the pitch at the stadium, which was used for one of the African Champions League semi-finals last November, was the reason for the decision.

The ban affects two teams scheduled to compete in this year's African club competitions.

FC St Eloi Lupopo, who play in the African Champions League, and US Kenya, who are in the African Cup Winners' Cup, both use the Kenya stadium as their home ground.

They are now compelled to play their home matches in the capital Kinshasa, hundreds of kilometres away.

Lupopo play against US Mbila Nzambi from Gabon in the first round of the Champions League on 13 April.

US Kenya are scheduled to meet APR FC of Rwanda in their African Cup Winners' Cup first round, first-leg encounter a day earlier.

Last December, Caf warned they would take a strict stance on the condition of pitches around Africa, after frequent complaints about poor surfaces.

Clubs that reach the last eight of the three club competitions will have their home venues inspected before they will be allowed to proceed in the respective tournaments.
