Bonfrere told his job is safe
Dutchman Jo Bonfrere has blamed his players for Ahly's poor results
Ahly will not evaluate Bonfrere until the season ends
Al Ahly v TP Mazembe
African Champions League, Round 3
Sunday, Cairo 1930GMT

Despite rumours surrounding the future of Al Ahly coach Jo Bonfrere, the team's manger Alaa Abdelsadek has ended the speculation about the Dutchman's future, stating he is secure with the team.

Ahly have to avoid defeat to surprise Group A leaders TP Mazembe to aviod going out of the competition.

But Alaa has confirmed that whatever the result in Sunday's match, Bonfrere will remain in charge.

"Even if we lose to Mazembe, Bonfrere is staying until the end of his contract," he said.

"We respect our commitments and this is how the system works in Ahly. We have our regulations and he will only be evaluated after the end of the season."

Board member Hecham Saied confirmed similar statements after the loss to Raja in Casablanca two weeks ago.

Alaa added that the result of the Mazembe match was now down to the team.

"The players should know that this is their last chance, they have to unite and retain their confidence."

But it will be a tough test for the holders at the Cairo stadium.

With the return of the injured strikers Reda Shehata, Sayed Abdelhafiez and Bibo, who missed the last game against Raja, the team seems to be in a better shape.

But the absence of international defender Ibrahim Saied is certain after he had a dispute with Bonfrere during a training session.

Saied was fined US $1000 and suspended for one month.
