| Ahly's mission impossible ![]() Al Ahly are not the force they were last year Defending African club champions Al Ahly of Egypt are on the verge of being knocked out of this years Champions League after losing their two opening games. Their 2-1 defeat on Sunday against Raja Casablanca, which follows their 2-1 defeat to Jeanne d'Arc, makes it difficult for them to make the semi-finals, and has drawn withering criticism. There is a uproar now among Ahly fans who are unhappy with the club's decision to release their former Portuguese coach, Manuel Jose.
The present coach, Jo Bonfrere, has been unable to follow his lead and has brought back older players. Players accused Taher Abu Zied, who won the 1986 Nations Cup with Egypt and is now an Ahly executive is angry. "We are paying for releasing Jose.
