Sylva wants out of Monaco after eight years

Tony Sylva has been relegated to warming the bench at Monaco - and is determined to quit the club.

The Senegal number one started the season in the Monaco goal following an injury to Flavio Roma, but Roma returned to the starting line-up against Lyon on Saturday.

Sylva has had a difficult 10 years at Monaco.

Before this season he had played only eight league games for the club, and this new demotion to bench-warming duties has pushed the Senegal star to look elsewhere.

"I would like the club to show me more consideration," Sylva said.

"I am 27, I had a great time at the World Cup, and in my head I am not a back-up.

"I want to play, and if it is not going to be at Monaco then I will look elsewhere."

Like many of his compatriots, Sylva has been linked with a move to England, but the man voted into the team of the tournament at the 2002 Nations' Cup says he has no particular destination in mind.

"That is not what is important," Sylva told BBC Sport Online.

"The important thing is to find a club that has faith in me and lets me play."
