Babangida to leave Barcelona
Haruna Babangida
Babangida played for Nigeria's U-20 team in 1999

Nigerian striker Haruna Babangida has been told by Barcelona to further his career elsewhere.

At a meeting with Louis Van Gaal, back for a second managerial spell at the Spanish club, he was told that he was surplus to requirements at the club.

"Van Gaal told me that I am a very good player but that I need to continue to pursue my objectives at another club as there is no place for me in the first team for next season," Babangida said.

Babangida was regarded as one of the 'pearls' of Bara's youth side, who was on the verge of of making his debut in the first team before Van Gaal's return.

Disappointed with the turn of events, the dimunitive player insists he is not worried about his future career prospects.

"At this moment I still don't know what I am going to do. I have just heard the news and I want to talk to my manager first.

I'm in no hurry and I am not panicking," a smiling Babangida added.
