Brooking out of FA running
Adam Crozier resigned as chief executive last week
Adam Crozier resigned as chief executive last week
Trevor Brooking has announced he has no intention of becoming the Football Association's next chief executive.

Former boss Adam Crozier stood down last week after coming under pressure following disagreements about commercial deals involving the England team.

The FA's director of international strategy, David Davies, and company secretary, Nic Coward, have since been appointed acting joint chief executives.

A five man sub committee has also been created to draw up a shortlist of potential successors.

But Brooking, a football commentator for BBC Sport, has ruled himself out of the running.

The first question you should ask if you're going to apply is: 'What is the role?'

"It's a full-time commitment and with my other interests it's not something I've considered," he told BBC Radio Five Live.

"It's one of those jobs that the first question you should ask if you're going to make an application is: 'What is the role?'

He added: "Is the job description the same as Adam's? Probably not.

"So there are a lot queries anyone would want answered before they took the job."

The former West Ham and England midfielder said that both Davies and Coward could provide a possible replacement for Crozier.

"Nick I know quite well," he said. " He's got a good legal brain and David Davies has been there for a while, of course.

"They might be candidates but I'm sure they'll be others.

"Whoever it is, the main query is what the role of the job will be? And at the moment I'm not sure that's clear."
