After a two-year absence, Lindsay Davenport makes a welcome return to the grass courts at SW19.

A succession of injuries forced the former world number one to miss much of last year, including Wimbledon.

She won her first title since 2001 when she defeated Monica Seles in Tokyo last January and has also made it to the finals of three other tournaments.

The surface at Wimbledon is sure to benefit Davenport's fast game and the American will be hoping to recapture her old form at the event.

In 1999, she became only the third American-born woman to win Wimbledon in the open era when she beat seven-time champion Steffi Graf in the final.

But the following year, she found herself on the losing end as Venus Williams claimed her first Grand Slam title, while in 2001, she fell once again to her compatriot in the semis.
