Gran Canaria-born player Magui Serna has been enjoying a run of good form recently.
In April, she successfully defended her title in Estoril, before winning in Budapest a week later for her third career success.
She maintained her winning streak for 14 matches until she was stopped in the quarter-finals of the Warsaw Cup by Jelena Dokic.
Her Grand Slam form has improved too. Last year she failed to get past the first round in three of the four major tournaments.
But, this season she reached the second round of the Australian Open and, most recently, made it to the last 16 at the French Open before losing to fifth seed Amelie Mauresmo.
At Wimbledon, the baseline player - who prefers grass courts - has suffered early exits over the past two years but will be hoping to repeat her best performance in 2000, when she reached the quarter-finals.
