Horna was promoted to 33rd seed after the late withdrawal of fourth seed David Nalbandian through injury. The right-handed Peruvian has worked his way up the world rankings since turning professional in 1998.
In his debut at Wimbledon in 2003, he took the first set against 11th seed Jiri Novak, but eventually went down in four sets.
Horna is beginning to fulfil the kind of promise which once saw him make the junior French Open final.
He seems to save his best for Roland Garros, sending Roger Federer crashing out in the first round of the 2003 tournament.
Weeks later, Federer had bounced back to claim his first Wimbledon title.
