Things did not go to plan at the French Open where he lost in the first round, despite brimming with confidence from his World Team Championships win.

Judging by previous form, things are unlikely to go much better at Wimbledon, where his best outing was the second round in 2002.

Last year was his best ever year on the ATP Tour, in which he competed in five quarter-finals, one semi-final and two finals, although he ended the season with just one win in six matches.

This season has been an equally mixed affair, although he did collect his fourth title in his home country on clay in February.

However, inconsistency remains the 23-year-old's biggest problem and he can go from world-beater to dud within the space of a set, let alone a season.
