The Belarus-born Israeli is firmly entrenched in the second tier of leading ladies who never threaten big wins while maintaining a high ranking. That comes primarily through her clay-court form as highlighted by victory in Vienna in May, her ninth WTA title.
But come the French Open, the only Grand Slam in which she has reached the second week, it was the same old story and she was out in the third round.
Her Wimbledon record makes dismal reading with three wins from 12 games.
A high-profile defeat to French prodigy Tatiana Golovin at the Australian Open was made worse when she lost to the same player in Paris the following week.
It came on the back of a steady improvement in 2002 and 2003, when the 27-year-old picked up a total of five tour titles.
She beat Klara Koukalova and Jelena Kostanic to win her titles in Sopot and Helsinki last year, but struggled whenever she faced a top-10 player.
If she is to break into the world's top tier a good showing at a Grand Slam is crucial, but it is unlikely that will come at Wimbledon where she has not won since 2000.
