Nathalie Dechy has never made it past the last 16 of a Grand Slam but impressively reached the fourth round of this year's Australian Open. She failed to repeat the feat during May's French Open, stumbling at the first hurdle.
The French number two has a mixed record at Wimbledon, where she has failed to match her fourth-round performance in the 1999 season.
This season she has already helped France to Fed Cup victory.
And she reached the semi-finals at the Gold Coast, where she entered the tournament as defending champion.
The solid form continued when she made the quarter-finals in Doha and Miami and enjoyed a run to the last four at Indian Wells.
The 25-year-old broke into the world's top 20 for the first time in 2002 and is in a position to go further if she can make the second week in Wimbledon.
