Capriati became the youngest seed in Grand Slam history 14 years ago when she was ranked 12th at Wimbledon.

Her subsequent fall and rise has been well documented but the fact she remains a real contender more than decade on is remarkable.

A succession of injuries has led to a slump in form since she won her third Grand Slam title in 2001.

But recent wins over the likes of Serena Williams at Roland Garros suggests there is more to come.

Wimbledon, though not among the three Grand Slam titles she has notched up so far in her career, has provided the 27-year-old with some fond memories.

She has twice reached the semis and on four occasions made it to the quarter-finals, including last year.

Her major titles came at the Australian Open, twice, and in Paris at the French Open.
