Wimbledon best:
Champion (1999)

Davenport remains a fixture in the world's top five despite injury problems that led to speculation she was set to retire at the end of 2003.

The American has a long-term foot injury which is likely to end her career eventually, but it has not hampered her much so far this year.

She has already won two titles this season and reached the last eight at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

Foot injury aside, Davenport has never been one of the most agile players.

The 27-year-old excels in hitting the ball relentlessly hard and flat, making her opponents do the running around.

And she has the experience of being a three-time Grand Slam winner.

Her only title at Wimbledon came in 1999, and the following year marked her last appearance in the final.
