| Gasquet romps to victory ![]() Gasquet conceded just one game in the final Rising French star Richard Gasquet thrashed compatriot Laurent Recouderc in the final of the French Open boys' singles on Sunday. The 15-year-old Gasquet, who became the youngest player to win an ATP Masters Series match earlier this season, won 6-0 6-1 on court number one at Roland Garros. Second seed Gasquet had also managed to take a set from Albert Costa, who has gone on to reach the final, in the first round of the main draw last week. Gasquet will next be seen in action at the Stella Artois event at Queen's, where he will play Tim Henman if he can get past South African Neville Godwin in the first round. The girls' title was won by Wimbledon junior champion Angelique Widjaja. The top seed from Indonesia beat American 11th seed Ashley Harkleroad 3-6 6-1 6-4. The 17-year-old Harkleroad, whose long blonde hair and photogenic looks have earned her comparisons to Anna Kournikova, lost the first set but came storming back in the second. But Widjaja, also 17, steeled her nerve to take the final set and win the championship. |
