Watson is aiming to get inside the top 100 by the end of 2011 |
Guernsey's Heather Watson has climbed into the top 150 of the women's world tennis rankings. The 18-year-old British number three moves up to 149 and becomes the youngest player on the list. She reached her first WTA quarter-final at the Auckland Classic in January, which she lost 6-4 7-5 to Shuai Peng. Watson, who was ranked 176 before the New Zealand tournament, won five consecutive matches, four of them against players seeded above her. This included straight sets victories in three qualifying and two main draw matches.
