Watson missed out on a place in the main draw in Mexico

Heather Watson has failed to qualify for the main draw of the Monterrey Open in Mexico.

She beat Catalina Castano from Colombia 2-6 7-6 6-0 in the first round of qualifying on Saturday.

However, the world number 130 from Guernsey came unstuck in the second and final round against Czech Lucie Hradecka, the world number 83.

Hradecka, who was also the second seed in qualifying, took the match 5-7 6-2 6-2 to secure a place in the main draw.
