 Watson is seeded seventh |
Guernsey's Heather Watson has won through to the quarter-finals of the Toronto ITF $50,000 tournament. The 18-year-old defeated American qualifier Jan Abaza in straight sets 6-1 6-1 in the last 16 on Wednesday. Watson, who is the seventh seed in the tournament, will now play in the quarter-finals on Friday. The Sarnian and partner Christina McHale were been knocked out in the first round of the doubles at the tournament on Tuesday. The pair lost 2-1 to number one seeds Andreja Klepac and Marie-Eve Pelletier 5-7 6-3 [10-5].
