Strong start for Jersey's juniors in Open Tennis

Jersey's young tennis players were in winning mood on the first day of the BNP Paribas Jersey Open Junior Tennis Tournament at the Caesarean Club.

Massimo Furness and Simon Johnson are through to the fourth round of the boys 14 and under singles.

Furness beat Cornwall's Oshi Leverton 6-4 6-0, while Johnson overpowered Alex Palmer of Gloucestershire 6-4 6-3.

Meanwhile, Scott Clayton, Scott Weaver and George Dupays are through to the last eight of the 18 and under draw.

In the girls draw, Audrey Bois is well placed in the 18 and under, after three wins in her opening matches, dropping only one set.
