British wildcard Daniel Evans has won the final of the AEGON Pro-Series at Les Ormes in Jersey.

The 18-year-old world number 439 defeated the Czech Republic's Jan Minar in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Evans, who beat British number three Alex Bogdanovic in the semi-final on Saturday, said: "It has been a good week all round.

"I have wasted a few wildcards in my time, so maybe it was about time to give something back."

Playing without fear, Evans never let Minar into the game.

"It's the way I play, some days you win, some days you don't, but most often than not I'm playing in that way and winning the big points," he said.

And Evans, who trains at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, said he is looking forward to returning to Jersey.

"I'll be back in November unless I take a big jump in the rankings," he said.
