Guernsey tennis star Heather Watson is returning to the islands after she was handed a wildcard for the AEGON Pro-Series in Jersey.

Qualifying for the event started on Monday but Watson's first match on the hard courts will be on Wednesday.

Watson said she was pleased to be given the wildcard abd be spared the demands of qualification.

"Now I've got more time to get prepared and ready for my match and I'm really looking forward to playing," she said.

Watson used to train once a week at the Les Ormes facility.

In the men's draw, the main attraction is likely to be Joachim Johansson, who can count Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal among his victims.

Also competing is Sergei Bubka Jnr - the son of the pole-vaulting legend.
