Guernsey's Heather Watson has lost in the first round of the singles competition at the Dow Corning Tennis Classic in Michigan, United States. The 17-year-old was defeated by her American opponent Beatrice Capra 4-6 6-2 7-5. On Wednesday Watson and fellow Brit Anne Keothavong went out in the first round of the doubles competition. In 2009 Watson became the first Briton to win the US Open girls' singles, beating Yana Buchina in the final.
