Davenport could face Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final |
Third seed Lindsay Davenport reached the semi-finals of the Pacific Open in Indian Wells after sealing a simple 6-3 6-2 victory over Gisela Dulko. The 27-year-old American was never in trouble against the Argentine, hitting a total of 14 winners and making just 12 unforced errors.
Davenport, who is ranked fourth in the world, is trying to become the first woman to win three Indian Wells titles.
She will now face France's Nathalie Dechy in the semi-finals.
Dechy, the 19th seed, was a 7-6 6-3 winner over Colombia's Fabiola Zuluaga.
"I've played well the whole tournament," said Davenport. "I have been looking forward to this tournament and I am really happy where I am at."
The American third seed has lost just once this year in 16 outings, but she looks on course to face her sole vanquisher of the season, Justine Henin-Hardenne, in the final.
"I have another big match on Friday to try and get into that final that I've been hoping for," added Davenport.
"I've actually only had one loss this year to Henin. I've won all my other ones. I've got to be happy with that."
