Paris Indoor Open Final

Serena Williams eased past Amelie Mauresmo in Paris and then said she was aiming to go through 2003 unbeaten.

The American cruised to a 6-3 6-2 victory to claim her second title of the new season and maintain her 100% record this year.

After winning the Australian Open last month, she currently holds all four Grand Slam titles and she has no intention of easing off.

"After winning the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open last year, I needed a higher goal this season and I said I wouldn't lose a match," she said.

"My goal is crazy and I'll see what happens."

Williams won her first tournament in the same Coubertin Hall, against Mauresmo, in 1999.

The Frenchwoman, who took Williams to a third set tie-break four years ago, never looked likely to repeat that achievement this time.

Mauresmo, playing in her first tournament of the year after missing the Australian Open with a knee injury, managed to hold her own at first.

She even had break points in Williams's first two service games, but at 3-3 in the first set, Williams moved up a gear and raced to victory.

"It was tough for me because the crowd wanted Amelie to win, but it's her first tournament back and I'm really happy for her," said Williams.
