Morris has been out of the Wales picture for two years |
New Worcester prop Darren Morris says he retains ambitions of returning to the Wales squad. The 31-year-old, who toured with the Lions in 2001, won the last of his 18 caps on Wales' 2004 summer tour.
He was released by Leicester earlier this month, but the Aberdare man was quickly snapped up by Worcester.
"I can't wait to make a new start after a few injuries at Leicester, Wales is still a lure for me," Morris told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I take encouragement from what someone like Gareth Llewellyn did, playing Test rugby at 36, and I believe as long as the will is there you are in with a shout.
"I have never played in a World Cup and it remains a big ambition to feature in one. If I can play well, who knows?"
Morris is renowned as a hard scrummager on either side of the scrum and an extravagantly gifted ball-handler, but his fitness has sometimes counted against him.

He faces serious competition to get into the Welsh squad, with Adam Jones and Morris' new Worcester team-mate Chris Horsman highly regarded on the tight-head.
Wales have an ambarrassment of riches at loose-head, including the likes of Duncan Jones, Gethin Jenkins and John Yapp.
Aberdare-born Morris revealed that he almost returned to Wales after his Tigers release, the Dragons and Scarlets thought to have been interested in his services along with a number of French clubs.
"There were discussions with the Scarlets, and I have a lot of time for them as a club, but you can't hang around in these matters," said Morris.
"When Worcester came in I thought I'd give them a whirl and I think I have made a good choice.
"They are a club with ambition and their facilities are second to none."
